CAVE OF NERJA

The cave of Nerja is located in the village of Maro, Nerja and was discovered on January 12, 1959 by five local youths. On June 12, 1960, work on conditioning for tourist use and access and the cave was opened with the celebration of the First Festival of Music and Dance Cave of Nerja. The year after its discovery, was declared a Historic Artistic Monument due to its high net worth and is one of the most visited monuments in the country. Undoubtedly, it is a vital stop on his visit to Nerja. The tour runs through so-called Tourist Galleries and lasts about 45 minutes. The itinerary has several flights of stairs and has designated areas for rest of the tourists during their tour. To perform this type of visit is not required booking. The Nerja Cave is open every day of the year except January 1 and May 15. In winter, the cave opens tomorrow, from 10:00 to 14:00, and afternoon, from 16:00 to 18:30. During the months of July and August, uninterrupted hours are from 10:00 until 19:30. During the days of the Festival International Music and Dance of the Cueva de Nerja (July), visiting hours are 10:00 to 18:00 h. The regular ticket price is 8.50 €, children 6 to 12 years € 4.50 and children under 6 free. For group rates and other information, available on the web.
